It's been awhile

Gosh, It's been nearly a month since my last entry- boy have we been busy. We've really made great progress on our painting project downstairs. We have the downstairs completely painted except for the dining room and half bath. The colors we picked look fantastic- can't wait for everyone to come see it. The great room is dark brown, the kitchen is orange, the foyer is khaki and the pool table room is yellow. I know it sounds kind-of crazy but they all go really well together. We love our house! We still don't have sod. It's a bummer because it's been raining non stop (it seems) for about a month so the ground isn't dry enough to do a final grade. We still might get it this winter though so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

Grace is our little mimic monkey. She tries to be just like mommy which is so adorable! The other day, she put on her sunglasses, her two necklaces, her bracelet and came in the room that I was in with both hands in her pockets. It was adorable. Her new thing is completely undressing before she hollers for us to get her in the morning. I'm not kidding, she is completely naked...and cold. It's hilarous. We are just waiting for that day when she has a poop a loop diaper and she decides to paint before we get her. Gross-
Grace and I have been busy doing arts and crafts. She really loves to color now and play with clay. We've tried finger painting several times but she doesn't much care for that. She doesn't really like to have anything on her hands- especially something that is cold and slimy. I think maybe a few more times and she'll give it a shot.

Grace also has really become brave since we've been taking her to Gymboree for her gym class. She get's her "monkey" nickname honestly. She is climbing on everything. I'll walk in the kitchen and she'll be standing on one of the kitchen chairs.

Bob and Sharon are coming for a visit this Sunday- we are really looking forward to their visit. Then all of the Christmas travelling begins- I still am not sure what our final plans are but we are trying to get everything figured out.

I think that's all for now!

Some progress

Good morning everyone! It sure has been awhile since I've written only because we've been so busy. The builder finally came out and graded our yard- somewhat. The guy actually ran out of gas before the job was finished and we haven't heard from them since but at least they have started. I'm really getting impatient with them considering it's almost December and we still don't have grass. We need at least 3 weeks of above freezing weather for the sod to take so hopefully they get their rear ends out here and finish the job. I can't even fathom the idea of not having grass until late spring of next year. Here's Grace watching the gentleman on the backhoe grade the yard. She loved watching.

I've put up one coat of paint in the great room (the bottom half of the room in which I can reach without scaffolding). It's brown and looks like it is taken right out of pottery barn. The color looks fabulous with the orange in the kitchen. We are still deciding on what color to put in the foyer. I have several samples painted on the wall but really am not crazy about any of them. I'm thinking of just putting a lighter version of what's in the great room in the foyer. I'll take pics later and send them out.

Grace has a cold- no fun! She's been quite fussy understandably. She did seem to sleep well last night though so keep your fingers crossed that she's feeling better today. Hopefully she will be better for Thanksgiving next week. We can't wait to see everyone. Here are several more pics of Grace- Enjoy

New Friends

Not much has been happening here in Lexington. We took Grace to open gym at Gymboree last night and had a blast. She finally started crawling through the tubes and climbing on everything. We met a couple there with 2 kids. They seem really nice so we are going to try to hang out with them soon. Their oldest child is Hannah who is almost 2 and their second child is Aiden who is 6 months.

We still don't have our sod which is upsetting. We have called and left messages several times but nobody has called us back. We also had a heating/cooling guy here to check out the upstairs furnace because our room and Evan's office are burning up while Grace's room is freezing. He said that the airflow was good and that it's cold probably just because it's over the garage. So, we have a delimma- it's only going to get colder. We are probably going to have to buy an insulated garage door and heat the garage. No fun!

I honestly can't think of anything else going on right now. Oh- Evan went to Keeneland for the first time today- he went with a marketing rep from AIG (insurance company) to the horse auction- pretty expensive horses! He said it was absolutely gorgeous inside and just an amazing experience. I can't wait to go!

What a fun weekend with Mimi and Poppy

Well it has been several days since I've written but that's only because we've been having so much fun here. Evan's parent's (Mimi and Poppy) came for a visit this weekend. They arrived Friday early evening and we decided to just hang out here for the night. Evan and I bought a pool table for our front living room so we decided to just order pizza and play some pool. It was also nice to show them our new house- pictures just don't do it justice they said.

Saturday we took Grace to her first class at Gymboree. Boy was that fun! Gymboree is a clothing store but also the company offers quite a few classes for children of all ages. We enrolled Grace in a gym class. Gosh did she love going down the slides. Gymboree had all sorts of activities including bean bags (to learn on and off) and a parachute, bubbles, etc. We think it's a good idea to start exposing her to other kids and to get her involved with activities outside of the house. I hope you enjoy the pictures from our weekend. Saturday we also drove around some to show Bob and Sharon the area and ran some errands. I was saddened by the results of the Notre Dame game. I was for sure that we would at least beat Navy. I know those poor buys had to have been tired with the game going into triple overtime but I really with they could've pulled through.

Bob and Sharon left mid-morning on Sunday and we started preparing for our Colts vs. Patriots party. It was fun to have our frinds over but again was a disappoingting game. I believe we are going to start painting the kitchen this week. I'm going to try a copper color so we'll see if it turns out.

Grandmother Beauchamp's 90th

The trip to and from Wabash last Sunday for Grandmother Beauchamp's 90th birthday party was well worth it. Grace was excellent in the car both ways and the party at Bob and Sharon's house was very nice. It was really fun to have everyone together. I'll attach a picture from the party as soon as I get one.

We are almost finished unpacking all of the boxes of stuff that goes inside. Our garage, unfortunately is still packed but until we get a shed and grass, the garage will stay full. We do miss our attic from our old house. I guess we didn't really realize how much stuff we had in our attic. Now we have a delimma as to where to put everything. It is really nice to have some decorations out though...sure makes the house feel more like a home. Oh- and we picked up our new kitchen table last Saturday. How great to eat at a table! We hopefully, this weekend, are going to get all of the scrub trees removed from our back yard. We think it's best to just clear everything out before we have the sod layed and then when we go to landscape- we start with a clean slate.

Grace fell down the stairs for the first time today. She's ok other than a rugburn on the end of her nose and the side of her face. Poor little girl. We think she only fell down about 4 steps and hope that she learned her lesson that stairs aren't toys. She has been in a better mood this week but is still having trouble taking her naps because of the construction noise. I rearranged her room today so that her crib isn't against the wall near the construction. Keep your fingers crossed that it will help.

The Pumpkin Patch

What a day we had! My mom, Evan, Grace and I went to a wonderful pumpkin patch north of Lexington today. Wow- was it too cool! They had everything from a full (we're talking major) petting zoo to pony rides, tons of pumpkins (both picked or in several patches), rope maze, etc. Grace had a blast and was so much fun to watch. She loved the animals in the petting zoo- especially the goats (baa baa) and the furry cow (moo moo). She was busy practicing her new found vocabulary. She also really liked trying to pick up the big pumpkins and exploring the piles and piles of them.

I've attached several pics and if you'd like to see the rest of them, send me an e-mail or add a comment to the blog and I'll send them through kodakgallery.com. I have lots of really great pics from today- you will enjoy seeing them. Promise!

Tomorrow we are heading up to Wabash so it is goodbye to my mom- we had a wonderful visit and Grace really enjoyed spending time with her. Grace really got along well with her which is unusual right now- she has kind-of become shy around anyone other than Evan or me. All in all- it was just a great weekend! We're ready for our next visitors- who's coming to Sandersville Rd.?

Happy Pumpkin Hunting- enjoy the pics-

Busy days have passed and more to come

Two nights ago we went to our good friend's Erik and Daniele Milholland's house and Grace got to play with their almost 6 month old son Dylan. It was so much fun! We had dinner and several cocktails. Grace really enjoyed playing with all of Dylan's toys- any new toy is great for both she and mommy Beauchamp! They live in the same neighborhood as us which is nice- now if it would only warm up and stop raining so Grace and I could take a nice stroll to their house. Today was actually a really nice day...I do love nice weather!

We've been busy around the house. Evan installed all of our new kitchen cabinet knobs and they look beautiful. What a difference! He also hung up the pot rack over the kitchen counter- the same one we had in Funcie- and I washed all of the pots and pans and hung them. They look great too! We have a lot to do still but really have been making so much progress every day. We are hoping to install our new kitchen sink and faucet tomorrow then it's off to Wabilly on Sunday for Great Grandmother's 90th birthday party. It will be a long day of driving but well worth it. Oh and how could I forget- finally the watering restrictions have been lifted due to all of the rain we've received recently...and you know what that means right? Correct- we will be getting our sod layed next week hopefully! Gosh, I can't wait to have a nice lush lawn. I'm sure Mr. Ralph will enjoy it too. This leash business is for the birds (grin).

My mom came in to town today and helped clean up the kitchen a bit. We were planning on going to Keeneland to see live horse races but the weather didn't quite cooperate so we ran some errands instead and ate at a wonderful restaurant called Rafferty's. The food was delicious...if only Grace was a little less spirited- yes that's what we call her now. We don't want to say bad or crabby or maybe even something worse so now she is just spirited. I think tonight we both decided that we aren't going to be taking Grace out to eat again any time soon. Take out and delivery will be our new best friends for awhile and that is just fine.

Peace out-

Moving is hard

Today is day #6 in our new house and Grace is still having a really difficult time adjusting to the new noises outside her bedroom window. While having a brand new elementary school across the street sounded like a great idea before we moved in, all of the construction really makes it difficult to sleep. They seem to be making much progress every day so hopefully it will be finished soon. We did buy some blinds for her bedroom so at least she is sleeping in her room now instead of her closet- yes you heard me right- the first night in our new home she slept in her massive closet. It's not much smaller than her old room- believe it or not. It provided complete darkness for a good night's sleep.

Grace is now a pro at going up and down the stairs. We decided not to use baby gates on the stairs right now because it seems they make her want to be on them more. Luckily the stairs have a landing about 1/4 of the way down so if she misses a step on the top, she won't fall far. The spindles are perfect for her to hang on to also. We are hoping not to have to use the baby gates until she moves to her toddler bed.

Evan has his office set up and has been working since last Monday. He says that things are going well so we'll keep our fingers crossed. I think he is really going to like working from home because he enjoys seeing Grace when she wakes up in the morning. He is currently using our home phone until his work phone is set up- should be next week.

Unpacking is going slow but I see the boxes clearing out every day. Since most of our things were in storage for so long, I'm washing everything before I put it away. I'm hoping to have everything put away by the end of the weekend. Hopefully next week I can start painting.

Lexington is under watering restrictions because of a severe drought. We were told that we wouldn't get sod until the restrictions were lifted. Fortunately, it's been pouring down rain here since Monday. I imagine by the end of this week the restrictions will be lifted and hopefully we can get our sod. It's not bad walking Ralph to do his business but when it's pouring down rain and he has to go potty but Grace is awake, I have quite a dilemma. Grace has helped me walk Ralph once- she really likes to hold the leash. Thank goodness Ralph is such a good boy and doesn't pull or run away.

We really love our new house. It is perfect. We've already bought several things to "upgrade" the house. We've bought blinds for the front of the house and a new shower head for the master shower. It's one of the rain shower heads. We also bought cabinent knobs for the kitchen and bathroom cabinets and a brand new kitchen sink and faucet. We haven't installed the sink yet but it is gorgeous! It might be my favorite thing in the entire house. We actually haven't installed the cabinent knobs either but we'll get to them.

I think that's all for now. I'll try to update this blog daily so you can keep track of what's going on in the Beauchamp abode. My mom is coming down this weekend and we are looking forward to our first out of town visitor. Have a safe drive mom. This blog was Bob and Sharon's idea- I'll do my best to update it daily. I'll also try to add pics to my letters.
